Susan Nicholl became the first executive director of the new MetroWest Visitors Bureau in August of 2011, bringing a track record and affinity for connecting people and organizations to create collaborative projects that benefit our communities.
Launched in December of 2011, the Visitors Bureau is a nonprofit, collaborative effort whose mission is to “stimulate economic activity in MetroWest by marketing the region’s assets to visitors and residents.”
Previously, Susan served 2-1/2 years as a management consultant at the Institute for Nonprofit Development, where she provided hands-on management coaching to two dozen central Massachusetts nonprofits in the areas of governance, revenue generation, planning, budgeting, and outreach.
The tasks involved with starting up a membership organization for MetroWest draws on her previous position as managing director of the Massachusetts Nonprofit Network, a role she took on in 2007 after serving two years as the sole employee tasked with managing the development and launch of this statewide association.
Having previously spent almost 20 years in the publications business in Denver, Washington, DC, and North Carolina—as a newspaper reporter, magazine editor, and director of publications/public information for a state university—she has a long track record of promoting regional assets to local and visiting consumers.
