A forty year veteran of the hospitality industry and a native Bostonian, Mr. Colella is vice president and managing director of The Colonnade Hotel, where he oversees the day-to-day operations of this luxury hotel.  He is also vice president of hotel operations for The Druker Company Ltd., The Colonnade’s parent company that owns and operates two additional Boston hotels -- The Midtown Hotel and The Inn at Longwood Medical Center.


Prior to joining The Colonnade Hotel in 1992, Mr. Colella was with Omni Hotels for 16 years and held managerial positions with Omni hotels in Chicago, New York, Minneapolis, Philadelphia and Boston.  During the early 80’s, Mr. Colella served as President and CEO of The Levy Restaurant Organization’s Chicago-based Gaper’s Caterers, the country’s oldest and largest off-site catering company.


Mr. Colella graduated from the Eugene M. Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.   Mr. Colella is a past chairman of the board of the Greater Boston Convention & Visitors Bureau, the Massachusetts Lodging Association, and the Massachusetts Restaurant Association.  He is also past chairman of   the Advisory Boards of Historic Hotels of America and Summit Hotels & Resorts International.  He is an active member of numerous boards, including Impact Melanoma, Sail Boston and the School of Hotel & Travel Management at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.


Mr. Colella contributes to numerous charitable and community causes, having raised funds for organization’s such as Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), Crohns and Colitis Foundation, The Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism, The NE Shelter for Homeless Veterans, The Women’s Lunch Place, Joslin Diabetes Center, the Down Syndrome Congress of Massachusetts and the Melanoma Foundation of New England through the annual Skål Club holiday luncheon which he hosts at The Colonnade Hotel.  Additionally, he assists throughout the year with fund-raising for the Visiting Nurse Association of the South Shore, Project Bread (anti-hunger organization) and the Massachusetts Soldier’s Legacy Fund, among numerous other worthwhile local and national charities.


Mr. Colella has received the following Awards/Honors:  Leaders Magazine Top Hotelier of the Year, Leaders Magazine Hall of Achievement, Massachusetts Governor’s “Tourism Leadership Award”, American Hotel & Motel Association’s “Most Valuable Volunteer Award”, “Distinguished Alumnus Award” – University of Massachusetts at Amherst.  In 2008 Colella was named the Massachusetts Restaurant Association’s Restaurateur of the Year.  He was inducted into the Massachusetts Lodging Association’s Hall of Fame in 2009 and the Massachusetts Restaurant Association’s Hall of Fame in 2014.
